Lil Redheaded Boy and I were going through the archives this afternoon and Ohhhhh the nostalgia! I found some real gems. Oh, by archives I mean photographic archives. It was like my entire adult life flashed before my eyes! Only it took a really, really long time to flash. Among gushy stuff like wedding pictures and adorable stuff like pictures of our boots in the snow and stuff like that, I found photographs of almost every crafty nook I’ve ever had! And I’m about to share them all with you.
Let’s begin with early California Street, San Francisco, California. (I say early because I lived on California Street again, several years later).

Probably one of the coziest little nooks of space I’ve ever kept. I covered the walls in pink, gold, and navy blue fabric, and rimmed the picture molding in olive green and cream tassels. It was a jewel box.

There’s lil Monty Cakes when he was still thin. I still have that dresser and it’s still baby blue. I still have those glasses. I don’t know if you can tell from the photograph, but the wall fabric has this gorgeous diamond textured ribbing in it. Really lovely stuff. I tacked it to the wall with metal tacks, and covered the tacks with single tassels. My poor roommates. So many holes in those walls. So much glue on those walls.
Even hammy was living in style

His Habitrail didn’t quite fit the decor, but it was about as good as I could find at the time. I think you can see Fernando in that little pod on the left. Ohh Fernando Pagoda, how we miss you. Sigh. Let’s have a moment of adorableness in honor of the late Fernando Pagoda.

The best damned hamster that ever was!
Sigh. Let’s laugh at my cake hunk. He was on my 18th birthday cake.

Swathed in gold and pink puffs, pillows, and DUCKS ! Fluffy duck! Mostly I like this picture because it’s almost really serious until you peep that giant stuffed duck on the bed. Ha!

I pretty much left no surface untouched, as you can see. I added lace to the fabric above the picture molding, mirrors and lotus candles above the door, and I draped an unused door in baby blue velvet.
I’m tempted to keep adding pictures, but it may be that I’m the only person interested in any of this, so I’ll leave it at that. Except for parts 2 and 3 of course. Parts 2 and 3 include later California Street and some other crafty spaces I’ve kept. It’s interesting that even though I’ve evolved, my taste has pretty much stayed the same. I like lots of stuff crowded together, in a thick stew almost, but a beautiful, warm, romantic stew. Velvet and satin Stew.
